Rāmera tornis |
Blakus Pulvertornim atrodas 1987. gadā rekonstruētais pilsētas aizsargmūra fragments ar Rāmera torni. Rāmera tornis celts 13. gs. 1. pusē. Sākotnēji tas bija četrstūrains pilsētas aizsargmūru tornis. 16. gs., kad aizsardzības mūris bija zaudējis savu militāro nozīmi, to no abām pusēm pamazām apbūvēja ar dzīvojamām ēkām. Līdzīgs liktenis piemeklēja arī mūri citās pilsētas daļās.
1913. gadā, nojaucot ēkas Trokšņu ielā, atklājušās Rāmera torņa paliekas - 3 sienas 2 stāvu augstumā. 20. gs. 70. gados veikti arheoloģiskie izrakumi tornī. Pamatojoties uz izrakumiem, 1985. - 1987. gadam Rāmera tornis un aizsargmūra fragments tika restaurēti. Restaurētajā pilsētas mūrī labi redzams, ka sākotnēji tas bija tikai 3,5 m augsts. Laika gaitā tas ticis paaugstināts līdz sasniedzis 13 m augstumu un ticis pastiprināts ar arkādēm.

Viduslaiku Rīgā pastāvēja tradīcija, lai celtne labi kalpotu, bija jāveic ziedojums. Parasti celtnes ziedojumam izvēlējās visvairāk godināto dzīvnieku, kam vienlaicīgi bijusi arī vislielākā nozīme saimnieciskajā dzīvē. Arī - Rāmera tornim ir veikti „ziedojumi” – tur atrasts zirga galvaskauss un āža ragi. Tornim bija nepareizi uzbūvēti pamati, un viena siena draudēja sabrukt. Tāpēc apakšējā telpa tika aizbērta un celta jauna siena. Celtnieki vēlējās „nodrošināties pret ļaunajiem gariem”, tāpēc lika ziedojumu ragus un galvu. Arī netālu no Rāmera torņa - aizsargmūru iekšpusē -atklāta bedre ar trīs zirgu galvaskausiem. Tie bija novietoti trijstūrī un, iespējams, kā ziedojums veltīti celtnes stiprumam.
