Strēlnieku laukums |
Strēlnieku laukuma vietā līdz pat 1938. gadam bija vairāki apbūvēti kvartāli, kurus nojauca, lai būvētu Rīgas pilsētas Valdes namu. 2. Pasaules karš un politiskās pārmaiņas izjauca šo projektu, un rezultātā izveidojās laukums pašā Rīgas sirdī, kas līdz pat 1971. gadam stāvēja tukšs. 1971. gadā tika atklāts piemineklis Latviešu sarkanajiem strēlniekiem.

Pašlaik notiek diskusijas par Strēlnieku laukuma tālāko likteni. J. Krastiņš ir izteicis domu, ka vieta, ko tagad dēvē par Strēlnieku laukumu, nav par tādu uzskatāmu, jo laukumam jābūt noslēgtam. Tas ir tukšums, nevis laukums. Arhitektu vidū nav vienprātības par laukuma tālāko likteni – atstāt to tādu kā ir, ietvert iekšējā pagalmā vai apjumtā telpā.
